Looking back towards Burnhill Farm
A rather desolate place now but once the site of a large munitions depot. Presumably, it was established here because of the remote location.

World War II bunkers at Burn Hill
Disused bunkers on the Burnhill Junction munitions dump closed in 1969. The Stanhope and Tyne railway ran just this side of the plantation in the distance. Former Bishop Auckland - Consett Railway
Route of the line that linked the Stockton and Darlington Railway to the Stanhope and Tyne Railway. Much of the Stanhope and Tyne is now the Waskerley Way, access heer is blocked by a former munitions dump.

The former Bishop Auckland to Consett railway runs behind the building on stilts. This is close to the site of the military exchange station for Saltersgate ammunition depot built for WWII.
