Old slag ladle
This stands on Genesis Way in Consett as a memorial to the former Consett Iron Company which occupied this site until 1983. The housing estate here is part of the redevelopment of the site.

Entrance to Fawcett Park, Consett
This is an open public space that has been created in front of the new housing development along Genesis Way. This whole area on the west side of the town centre was of course once part of Conset Iron Works and is being slowly redeveloped.

Genisis Way from the hillside
The escarpment east of the road has been landscaped and offers great views of the countryside to the west. Housing continues to be built all along the road. This was all once part of Consett Steel Works.

Fawcett Park centrepiece (detail)
