This is a view looking west from beside the Castleside road south of Consett Town Centre. There is a good view of the North Pennine foothills from here. On the right is the new houing estate taking shape on the former steelworks site.

View from beside the A692
There is a panoramic view to the north and west from the roadside just south of Tesco's supermarket. You can across to the north side of the Derwent Valley and way up into Northumberland. Of note is the new housing slowly starting to cover the old steelworks site.

Looking west down the main road out of Consett
This is the A692 leading to Castleside from the town centre. This open land on either side once was the site of Consett Iron Works.

The little industrial estate at the Grove is just visible. This is to the West of Consett town centre and 30 odd years ago this land would have been part of the steelworks.
