Clock at Consett Bus Station
There has been a clock here most of the time since the first bus station was built in 1936. This clock was installed in 2018. The bus station entrance is on the left.

Middle Street in Consett
Pedestrianised main shopping street in the town centre, viewed from the south end at the junction with Front Street. The buildings on the left are mainly Victorian, with later 20th century ones on the right side.

Buses at Consett Bus Station
Virtually all the services from here are operated by Go North East. There was a major modernisation of the local fleet in 2019, with new double deck buses, one of which is shown in the centre here.

Deserted main street in Consett
A very quiet Middle Street in the town centre on Easter Sunday lunchtime. One of the very few days when there are virtually no shops open. Christ Church makes a fine end piece to the street.

Consett Bus Station
Shown on the right here, this is the third bus station to be built on this site. The buses here are all Go North East vehicles, they operate nearly all the services in the area.

Looking down Front Street in Consett
There is a striking view straight down this road to the North Pennine moors in the far distance. Forty years ago, the view would have been filled by the huge buildings of Consett Steelworks.
