Village green, Cornsay
The village green in the small village of Cornsay is home to a feature known as, (we were told), a draw well, or at least the building which housed or covered it. The lintel above the doorway has engraved the names of two benefactors who erected the structure. The pale yellow building across the green, now a private house, was once the village pub, The Black Horse.

Cornsay village green
This is a pretty little agricultural settlement a few miles west of Durham city. The structure which looks like a bus shelter on the top left is actually the site of the former village well.
