Lanchester Valley Railway Path
This path, one of many railway paths in County Durham, follows the line of an old railway from Consett to Durham and forms part of National Cycle Network route 14. The railway was opened in 1862, closed to passengers in 1939 and finally closed in 1965.

Lanchester Valley Walk near to Malton
The Lanchester Valley Walk follows the route of The Lanchester Valley Railway which was constructed to carry iron ore to the steelworks at Consett. The view here is towards the village of Lanchester from near the small settlement at Malton where there was once a colliery.

Looking north from south of Malton
Field south of the little hamlet of Malton, with Burnhope mast in the distance. I found myself in this field after getting lost whilst walking west from Biggen Farm. I inadvertently followed a farm track, thinking it was the public path.
