Road Bridge Over the River Wear at Fatfield
A steel girder bridge, opened in 1891. This was a busy main road until 1975 when it was bypassed. Single carriageway with a footpath and managed with traffic lights.

A glimpse of Fatfield Bridge
Fatfield Bridge between Penshaw and Fatfield was built in 1890 and was the only road bridge over the River Wear in Washington until the construction in 1975 of Chartershaugh Bridge nearby which carries the dual carriageway Washington Highway.
