Bank of River Wear with black-headed gulls
The birds largely conceal the band of the River Wear below its east bank at this location between Chester-Le-Street and the grounds of Lumley Castle. The black-headed gulls are in winter plumage where the black head, (more brown in reality), turns white with just dark smudges showing behind the eyes.
