The 'Civic Heart Arch', Chester-le-Street
The Civic Heart Arch is a piece of modern artwork in the market place in Chester-le-Street, County Durham. The need arose to replace an old culvert which had been constructed under the town’s market place and as part of the works the local council chose to create this modern sculpture. The cost was £1.8 million.
