Market Place, Chester-le-Street
The large market place at the northern end of Front Street. Despite it being a market day the stalls were more or less deserted, possibly due to the very cold weather and snow showers.

The 'Civic Heart Arch', Chester-le-Street
The Civic Heart Arch is a piece of modern artwork in the market place in Chester-le-Street, County Durham. The need arose to replace an old culvert which had been constructed under the town’s market place and as part of the works the local council chose to create this modern sculpture. The cost was £1.8 million.

Bus stops on Front Street, Chester le Street
Most of the local buses stop here, at the north end of Front Street, but some services use the Market Place, which is just around the corner. The Red Lion occupies a prime position here, on the opposite side.
