The Garden House Inn
This large pub at the top of North Road,Durham, is the traditional point at which the bands and banners start their march into the city for the Durham Big Meeting. This was the Durham Miners yearly day out and celebration, now taken over by the larger Labour movement.

Hexagonal stone Font, St Cuthbert's Durham
Standing on a similarly shaped plinth with a cluster of four short pillars, and adorned with a St Cuthbert's Cross in bas relief. The heavy oak cover is decorated with wrought ironwork.

St Cuthbert's 'Community Room'
A prize-winning architectural annexe to the north side of St Cuthbert's Church in 1990. The church wall, of Penshaw Sandstone, as seen within this room has been cleared of the effects of over a century of weathering to present a pale creamy-yellow surface; whilst the church windows have been soundproofed by added plain glass double glazing.
