Foreboding sign
A view over Loch Ryan from the end of the promenade walk. The warning sign relates to the former operation of the HSS vessel from Stranraer to Belfast, but is rather out of date now. The Stranraer terminal has now been closed and Stena Line operations relocated to a new pier at Cairnryan, where a ship can be seen in the image. Operation of the HSS ceased altogether in 2011, not least because the ship used so much fuel at high speed, which was not in any case permitted within the shallow waters of Loch Ryan.
