The Dargoal Burn at Polbae
This area in the Galloway Forest, at The Land of Polbae Private Nature Reserve, is rich in flowering plants and the insect life that lives on them. The burn was alive with dragonflies during my July visit. There is also a project to help conserve stocks of Atlantic Salmon in Scotland.

Forestry Bridge at Polbae
The maps show this crossing as a ford but recent and forthcoming timber operations needed something to take heavy vehicles. There is a project on the Dargoal Burn to help conserve stocks of Atlantic Salmon in Scotland, which would have been undermined by continued use of a ford.
