Old milestone
On the B733 set into the dyke in front of Oldland Farm west of Kirkowan. A typical stone set up in Wigtownshire, late 19C or early 20C

Old milestone
Looking towards Kirkcowan. This milestone was spotted by a Milestone Society member from Dumfries in 2017. It wasn't seen in 2008. The dyke (wall) in front of Oldland Farm may have been rebuilt at some time and the repainted milestone set within it.

View along the B733 past the old Station House right of picture and Oldland Farm centre. Remains of the platforms of the old Kirkcowan Station can be found near to the roadside opposite the Station House.

Kirkcowan railway station (site), Dumfries & Galloway
Opened in 1861 by the Portpatrick Railway on what became the Portpatrick & Wigtownshire Joint Railway from Castle Douglas to Portpatrick, this station closed in 1965. The railway line was known as 'The Port Road'.
View south west towards Glenluce and Portpatrick. The only remains are the western extremities of the two platforms, as the main road was diverted across the station site after the line had closed and the rest became part of a field.

Westward on B733 at site of Kirkcowan station, 2000
The station had been closed when the whole main line Dumfries - Castle Douglas - Challoch Junction, the Ports Line to Stranraer, was closed from 14/6/65.
