Eastern entrance to the Raiders Road
The Raiders Road is a 10-mile forest drive from the A762 (here) to the A712 near Clatteringshaws Loch. It is unsurfaced but in good condition, although for obvious reasons it is closed during winter months. There is a charge, currently £2, described as a parking fee although it is really a toll.
Although at this entrance we are looking north-west, it immediately turns south for a short distance, and then heads roughly WNW beside the Black Water of Dee.
For a photo at the western end taken on the following day, see Image It is odd that the signs at both ends of the drive imply that traffic in your direction has precedence over that coming towards you.

Raiders' Road
Forest road open to public use. There is a £3 parking charge. The road here is not shown by the Ordnance Survey on the 1:25,000 map so is possibly new.

It is 850 metres to the Secret Cages. Many people, on first seeing this sign, do not know what the Secret Cages are - - - - they have to do the walk to find out!
