High spring tide at Kirkcudbright
Spring tides and the water is lapping over the edge of the slipway. Tidal range at springs is around 7 metres here compared with 3 metres at Stranraer, only about 35 miles away as the crow flies, but out of the Solway Firth.
Note the red and green navigation buoys; The red is afloat as is normal, but the green starboard-hand marker is actually mounted on the corner of the white house.
