Former Drill Hall - Beech Grove
Probably dating from 1908. The unusual chimney arrangement at the corners of the building also crops up on another contemporary drill hall in Sanquhar. Used by 5th Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers (F Company) in 1914. Now converted to housing.

Looking towards Burn Street
Dalbeattie is known for the granite which was mined in this area. Just outside Dalbeattie was an extremely large munitions factory, which made explosives up until 1945 - employing 2000 women and 200 men. After it ceased to produce explosives it became a Royal Navy Armaments depot up until 1960.
