Prefabricated houses at Stanley Common
The so-called 'Cornish Type' was extensively used by the National Coal Board during the 1950s. This view shows an unmodernised unit to the left, showing the precast concrete panels forming the ground floor. The right hand house has been modernised with brick cladding to the ground floor.

Recreation Ground, Stanley Common
A public open space by the side of the main road used by the local community. In winter local football teams play here but in summer it is the occasional venue for open air brass band concerts as can be seen here.
