The Field, Shipley, Derbys.
Coppice House - overlooking Coppice Lake - is part of the small Lakeside Business Park, adjacent to The Field. "The Field" being a road that runs through a hamlet close behind the photographer's right shoulder. A 'local' dog-walker pointed out to me that it had previously served as a pub known as The Coppice Inn.

Lakeside Business Centre - 2
View westwards from the front entrance, with the lake on the left. The sign in the centre shows this is the home of Counter Solutions, who deal in electronic point of sale equipment, etc. On the right, the 'for sale' sign indicates that there are still offices available on the 18-acre site.

Marlpool Station access road
Marlpool Station was on the former Great Northern Railway branch from Ilkeston to Heanor and closed to passengers in 1928. The house on the left was the stationmaster's house. The road is a public footpath.

The Field, Shipley, Derbys.
A view of "The Field" (a street name & neighbourhood title) with a glimpse of several of the houses built for employees of the former coal mine nearby. The edge of Shipley Country Park lies behind the photographer (a site previously developed by the Shipley Colliery Company) and 5-10 minutes further on is a junction with the Heanor-Ilkeston Road, the A6007.

Cycleway near Marlpool
Heading southwards through the woodland on the edge of Shipley Country Park. This was once the route of the Great Northern Railway branch line from Ilkeston to Heanor, opened in 1891 mainly to carry coal from the local pits and closed in 1963.
