Kirk Hallam Church
It's always difficult to get a good angle from the gate or of the tower due to the proximity of the trees but the view above shows the church (dating mainly from the 14th and 15th centuries although its origin is Norman) from the eastern end.

Kirk Hallam Church
Surrounded by a tidy churchyard, parts of All Saints' Church date from Norman times. For most of its life the church served a small village, but in the 1950s and'60s this was hugely expanded by the construction of a housing estate that now surrounds the churchyard.

Nutbrook Trail
Former mineral railway line serving collieries an ironworks in the area to the west of Ilkeston, it has been converted into a walking and cycling trail and is part of Sustrans route 67. Looking southeast near the Oakwell Brickworks site. The mound at the left hand side is a reminder of the former use as it is an old buffer stop, once at the end of one of the sidings serving the brickworks and the former Ilkeston Colliery. It is of a common type consisting of a mound of earth or ashes held together by a fence of sleepers with some old rails at the ends and sides to bind the whole together.
