Built in the Arts and Crafts/Art Nouveau period, of which the shop front itself is a well retained example.

Stamp machines at Melbourne Post Office
Stamp vending machines are a rarity these days, especially ones that still appear to be operational. This pair are particularly interesting in that an older and a more modern one are involved

Melbourne So postbox ref DE73 239
The A type wallbox is clearly a replacement following the split of Royal Mail from the Post Office it is almost certainly second-hand from elsewhere as it still carries the 'POST OFFICE' lettering. The alterations to the brickwork suggest that the previous box was the simple brass panel with posting slot type. Of particular interest are the stamp vending machines, of two different eras. The right hand one looks as if it is still operational, offering a 50p booklet.

The Welcome Caf? in Derby Road, Melbourne
This café is a popular meeting place, and bakes wonderful old-fashioned cakes. It was formerly a butcher's shop, hence the decorative tiles on the frontage.

The Old Bakehouse, Potter Street
Now simply a private house. Note the tall openings in the centre of the building with the hoist beam over, indicating where sacks of flour, etc., would have been hoisted into the upper storage floors.
