A pleasant terrace for outdoor drinking on the north side of the pub. From here there is a good view from the sandstone ridge on which Higham village stands over the former coal mining district of east Derbyshire.

The Greyhound, Higham
Looking along the A61, the traditional route between Chesterfield and Derby, although most through traffic would nowadays use the M1/A38 option. This was part of Roman Ryknield Street. A passer-by could be forgiven for thinking the pub is called the 'Tavern Table' thanks to an irritating modern trend for signs belonging to branded chain pubs.
