997 London Road
The immediate purpose of this building is not apparent, but it turns out to be a more than usually imposing example of a turnpike toll house, dating from the mid 19th century, now a private dwelling. The rear of the building is a modern extension. Listed Grade II.

Entrance to Alvaston Park from London Road, Derby
This entrance to the park is along Meadow Lane, which is a turning off London Road (part of the A6). Meadow Lane leads to the park's car parks. The road turning off Meadow Lane on the right is a private access road to Alvaston Park Homes.
