The Yarn Spinner
This public house is obviously closed, perhaps not enough yarns were spun within it to keep it open. It is a sign of the times the number of public houses that are shutting up shop, even in a densely populated suburb such as this.

Stoney Lane
Stoney lane at the junction with Sandringham Drive, Spondon. Stoney Lane leads to the A52 - Brian Clough Way that connects Derby with Nottingham.

Footbridge over the A52
The A52 or Brian Clough way is a very busy road and hence the footbridge is here to allow people to cross safely. Especially needed as just over the bridge is Asterdale Primary School and no doubt many children cross to go to school and back again to home.

Missing footbridge
The footbridge that was here was formally closed "due to a safety issue" in July 2016. At the time of this photograph, It was expected to be replaced by July 2017.

A52 Spondon bypass
Looking north east toward Derby, this is where the A52 splits the old Borrowash Road, since renamed Stoney Lane to the north whilst retaining its old name to the south.
