The Queens Head in Little Eaton
This Grade II listed public house dating back to 1835 was relaunched by the Derby Brewery in 2011 and it now features an excellent beer range. The pub was originally called the Delvers Inn - named after the quarrymen and flint-workers who made their livings in the area.

Bench mark on Queen's Head
This bench mark was established in 1851 during the First primary levelling of England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 178.5890 feet [54.4339 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included on the Sheffield to Birmingham levelling line. The surveyor's description was "No. 125. Mark on corner of the Jolly Delvers public house, Little Eaton ; 1.87 ft. above surface" (p359). The 1881 map (and all subsequent maps) shows this mark which is on the east face, north-east corner of the pub, which is now called Queens Head. The inn dates back to 1835 when it originally opened as the Delver's Inn, a delver being a quarry worker.

Level crossing at Little Eaton
There is no risk of road traffic being held up, as the overgrown track shows it is many years since any trains passed here. This is one of several level crossings on this branch line that originally went through to Ripley but was cut back to Denby in 1968. In any case this was for freight only, the LMS withdrew the passenger service as long ago as 1930.

Level crossing at Little Eaton
It is many years since any trains used this crossing and the gate on the south side has been replaced by a fence; nevertheless, the track is still in situ. The branch line originally went to Ripley, but was latterly used only for freight trains to Denby.
