Derby - pre-1964 road sign on Lodge Lane
Just prior to its junction with Bridge Street. Although you can still reach the destinations shown on this sign by travelling along this route, it hasn't been a recommended route since the building of the Derby inner ring road (St Alkmunds Way) in 1972. For more information on the history of the Derby inner ring road, please see http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/wiki/index.php?title=A601 . This style of road sign was superseded by the new signs introduced from the mid-1960s following the report of the Worboys Commission.
