Classic tween-wars ribbon development
The B5017 is continuously ribbon-developed for about 2 miles between Shobnall and Rough Hay with these typical tween-wars semi-detached houses. This type of development led to more restrictive planning conditions after the second world war to prevent unnecessary encroachment on countryside.

Old Milepost by the B5017, Forest Road, Branston parish
Cast iron post by the B5017, in parish of BRANSTON (EAST STAFFORDSHIRE District), Forest Road, near King Road new housing development, on the verge, on Southwest side of road. Lathe iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century.
