27-29 Friar Gate, Derby
Three stately mid-C18th houses. No. 27 is the grandest, of five bays, stone bands, pedimented central window and doorcase with Tuscan columns. Built 1778, its design attributed to Joseph Pickford. Grade II* listed. Nos. 28 and 29 are of three bays each, and lack these flourishes, although each has a doorcase (Image]). By such subtle details are Georgian buildings stratified. Friar Gate has fine sequences of Georgian houses, almost continuous on the north side of the street, bittier on the south side.

Mid C18th. Unlike most of its street contemporaries it has unfortunately lost its Georgian sashes. Grade II listed. Now offices. Friar Gate has fine sequences of Georgian houses, almost continuous on the north side of the street, bittier on the south side.
