Old Forfar Academy Main Block
This B Listed school was built to a design by Montrose architect David Logan in 1815. Originally, and until replaced by a modern concrete block on the northern outskirts of the town, this was Forfar Academy. It became Chapel Park Primary School, but is now closed. The car park at the Academy Medical Practice across the road offers a full view of the venerable façade.

Chapelpark School
This is now a primary school, but it was originally Forfar Academy, before the secondary school was moved to a greenfield site on the northern outskirts of the town. Update, June 2009: Chapelpark School is now closed, and a new use is being sought for the buildings.

Academy Street
This was a lane off Academy Street, but it has been widened to give access to the council estate on Newmonthill. The modern premises of a medical practice and a chartered accountant contrast with the old sandstone houses on the left.

Old Forfar Academy West Block
Like the main block, the west block is also B listed. It was designed in 1909 by Arbroath architects Hugh Gavin and T R Soutar. It is now part of Chapel Park Primary School. Unfortunately it is not easy to photograph because of street furniture by the street into which the car is turning.
