Royal Mail Van Park
The stepped alleyway is almost a continuation of New Road, leading up to West High Street from the Mirie, which contains the main town centre car park. The Post Office occupies a modern concrete block on the West High Street, and the sorting office and Royal Mail parking are behind it.

Meffan Institute
Meffan Institute is now a museum and houses an excellent collection of well displayed Pictish Stones.

Little Causeway
A cobbled backwater of plain 18th century houses which have somewhow escaped the attentions of developers, both Victorian and modern. The ground is paved with traditional cobbles which are not easy to walk on, and cars are excluded.

West High Street
Only late on a summer afternoon does the sun shine on the façades of the buildings on the south side of West High Street. The street slopes down to the Cross and the junction with Castle Street. The street sloping up is East High Street, beyond the Cross. The steeple of the parish kirk stands above the rooftops.
