Club tents, Scottish Six Days orienteering 2009 Day 4
A field by Shanwell, converted into a sports stadium for one day. The tents and banners are put up along the finish run in, they provide a base for leaving kit, getting out of the weather and a means of showing support - always welcome at the end of a long run. Although almost entirely ignored by the sports media, this is one of the biggest sports events in Scotland, attracting over 3000 competitors over seven days of competition. (There are races on the rest day as well as the main six days).

Finish, Scottish Six Days Day 4 2009
The finish run in on one of Shanwell's fields. Cattle graze here normally, and in previous years, according to aerial photography, the site held pig arks.
