The Cloisters
The NTS has care of this ruined Cistercian Abbey founded in 1229 at Balmerino, which was on the Pilgrim's Route to St. Andrews.

Dormitory Stairs, Balmerino Abbey
Balmerino Abbey, a monastery situated on the bank of the River Tay in Fife was founded in 1229 then destroyed during the Reformation. A Spanish Chestnut tree here is one of the oldest of its kind in the country.
