Newport-on Tay looking over the old Fyfie pier
The pier was the Newport terminal for the Tay Ferries, they sailed from Dundee to Newport on a regular service prior to the opening of the Road Bridge which is seen in the background. Memory recalls that the ferries were the B.L Nairn; The Sir william High - Paddle Steamers. They were replaced by the Abercraig and the Scotscraig. They in turn were displaced by the bridge. There were earlier Ferries but not in my time.
