Strathmartine Road, Dundee near Kingsway
The first roundabout in Dundee was created, on completion of its bypass (Kingsway) in the 1930's, at the junction of Strathmartine Road and the Kingsway. It was known as the Kingsway Circus. To this day, according to urban folklore, roundabouts are known as "circles" to Dundonians.

The Kingsway
The Kingsway was built in the late 1920s as a bypass for the city. It must rank as one of the best bits of forward town planning in any Scottish city! Although today it is well within the boundary of the city and it forms part of the A90T, it channels through-traffic well away from the city centre.

The disappeared Gelly Burn
Up to the late '50s there existed here the Gelly Burn. It has either dried up or gone subterranean. To the left of the wall there was a short footpath. The photograph was taken from a point close to the site of a small stone built bridge.
