Auchterhouse : North Dronley
Auchterhouse is a village, community, and civil parish in Angus, situated north west of Dundee. The village of straddles the B954 Muirhead to Newtyle road, approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) from Dundee. About 1.5 miles (2.4 km) east lies the larger village of Kirkton of Auchterhouse where Auchterhouse church and school are located.
Smaller settlements, such as Bonnyton, Hosie Park and North Dronley, in the environs of these two villages, combine with them to comprise the wider community also designated Auchterhouse, served by its eponymous community council.
Singer Billy MacKenzie lived in the village from 1991 until his death in 1997. Kirkton of Auchterhouse, was the subject of the well known painting 'Sidlaw Village, Winter' by James MacIntosh Patrick.
