Street scene, Longforgan
A K6 type telephone box stands on the pavement on the main street in the village. In 1935, the Post Office commissioned a new kiosk from Sir Giles Gilbert Scott to celebrate the Jubilee of King George V. The K6 Jubilee Kiosk, as it is known, was similar to the K2 box, being made of cast iron and painted red but was 25% lighter in weight. By the end of the 1930s there were 20,000 K6 telephone boxes in use all over the UK.

Longforgan mercat cross, Main Street
The late-17thC cross is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. According to Historic Scotland, it is presumed to have been erected by Patrick Lyon, first earl of Strathmore, who inherited Huntly Castle c.1660. Towards the end of the 18th century it was removed to the castle grounds, but re-erected here in 1989. The much weathered lion atop the shaft has seen better days.
