Elizabeth Street no more
All that now remains of the street where an ancestor lived in the 1910s is a pile of rubble.

St. Mary's Forebank
This 1900 church is notable for its twin bell towers. A marvellous example of Art Nouveau with a touch of Italian influence, they can be recognised from many parts of the city.

Nelson Street
Leading steeply up to Hilltown, this is one of a series of residential streets running up the fall line. Some of the original tenements survive here, alongside redeveloped areas. I was enjoying the climb until it turned into a one way street.

Small pile
... for a big building. The one thing we all said after stopping off to see the results of the Alexander Road flats was how little there was left. The pile there is an entire block of flats. Walked along the grass banking at the side of the road just before taking this picture and had a cloud of dust puff up at every step. Sure glad I don't live near here (there are flats on the opposite side of the road to the demolished flats). It may take a wee while before the dust finally settles!

Tower block, Hilltown
View from Ann Street, aerial photographs suggest that there was a building between the street and the tower. There was a Levi jeans advert where Dundee stood in for the Soviet Union and featuring tower blocks.
