Stone level crossing
The level crossing which presumably gave its name to the station. The minimalist station building is shown better in Image As of September 2015 the crossing had been shut "following a number of near misses" with plans for a replacement footbridge, which was due to open in early 2018 Image

Stone Crossing railway station level crossing
In 2008 it is extraordinary that this level crossing, at the foot of Church Hill, is still manned, particularly late on a Sunday afternoon. One wonders how often in a day the gates get opened to let vehicles cross! However the railway station has a direct service to London Bridge, scheduled at 44 minutes every half hour off-peak on weekdays.
