Longfield Station
This is the main line from Victoria to the Medway Towns and Kent Coast. The fast trains do not stop here though.

Longfield railway station, Kent
Opened in 1872 on the London Chatham and Dover Railway's main line linking those places, this station was called Fawkham until 1961. View east towards Meopham and Chatham.

Longfield station
Longfield station is on the line from Victoria to the Medway towns. Through running between Canterbury and Victoria via Chatham commenced on 3rd December 1860. The station opened as Fawkham station in June 1872, taking the name of the village which lies a little way to the south. This name was chosen as a local landowner had offered land and cash for provision of a station. The original station was destroyed by fire around 1900 and rebuilt. The railway line through Fawkham station was electrified in 1939 with electric trains operating between Victoria and Gillingham, but steam trains continued to pass through the station on their way to and from the Kent Coast until June 1959. In 1961, the station was renamed 'Longfield for Fawkham & Hartley' but by the end of the 1960s it became plain Longfield. Sadly in 1971 the historic station buildings were demolished and the present unattractive shelters put up in their place. This view looks from the down platform up the line towards Swanley and Victoria.
