Dartford: Arjo Wiggins paper mill (2)
This is Arjo Wiggins' carbonless paper manufacturing mill in Priory Road North. Comparing this photograph to Martin's Image, which I am guessing was taken from around the back of this same structure, the chimney with the black tip in his photograph appears to have been demolished.

Dartford Fresh Marshes
Although this marshland to the north of Dartford town centre is an important wetland area, it is surrounded by industry and housing and there is inevitable pressure for encroachment. The works in the middle distance belong to Glaxo Smith Kline; further away is Littlebrook Power Station.

Dartford Freshwater Marshes
The Dartford Freshwater Marshes contains some of the wettest and ecologically most valuable parts of the surviving Dartford Marshes. Here the SW corner of the marsh alongside the embankment of the tidal River Darent contains extensive areas of permanent standing water. These wetland areas include a substantial reedbed (Phragmites australis), or stands of tall emergent vegetation such as reedmace (Typha latifolia), sedges (Carex spp), rushes (Juncus), burr reed (Sparganium erectum) or canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea).
