Reflections in Dead Lake
Looking across the lake in late evening and there very few ripples to disturb the reflections of the trees opposite. Despite the name Dead Lake it is a very pleasant little mere tucked away in the corner of Delamere Forest, it is accessible for about half of its shoreline- the rest being private property.

Dead wood in Dead Lake
Standing deadwood like this is a wonderful resource for wildlife, it will provide a home for various invertebrates who, in turn, provide a food source for Woodpeckers, Nuthatches and Treecreepers amongst others. It doesn't look as if this will remain standing for much longer though, the trunk has about rotted through at water level. Despite the name, Dead Lake is a lovely little mere that is accessible for about half of its shoreline. This picture was taken early evening and there was hardly a ripple to disturb the reflections.
