River Weaver - Northwich Town Bridge
Innovative swing bridge from 1899 designed by Colonel John Saner. The weight on the pivot is carried on an air filled floating pontoon within a river caisson. This eliminates differential settlement due to poor ground conditions and the effects of movement from salt extraction. The swing mechanism was the first example of the use of electrical power. This is one of a pair with the nearby Hayhurst Bridge.

IWA National Festival, Northwich (1), 1979
In 1979 the Inland Waterways Association held their annual Festival on the River Weaver in Northwich. Wiki records that 622 boats attended. I'm not sure of the date but I think it was probably held over the August Bank Holiday weekend. This is the view from British Waterways' Hayhurst Yard looking towards the Town Swing Bridge.
