Canalside cottage , Nantwich Basin, Cheshire
This basin was originally the terminus of the Chester Canal from Nantwich to Ellesmere Port, long since merged with the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction (and now Shropshire Union) Canal.

Nantwich Basin in Cheshire
This 150 metre arm off the Shropshire Union Canal at Nantwich Junction is the original terminus of the Chester Canal. It is now used by a boatyard and as a marina.

Nantwich Basin
At Nantwich the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal joins the older (and wider) Chester Canal. Both canals later formed part of the Shropshire Union Canal. The junction wasn't quite end-on, forming the basin which is now home to a boatyard

Nantwich Basin, Shropshire Union Canal, Cheshire
The older and wider Chester Canal had its terminus here and was joined by Telford's Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal, eventually merging to form the Shropshire Union Canal. The arm is only two hundred metres long and is used by boat yards and a club.

Nantwich Junction in Cheshire
To the right is a 150 metre arm which is the original terminus of the Chester Canal. It is now used by a boatyard and as a marina. On the left, the Shropshire Union Canal (formerly the Birmingham and Liverpool Junction Canal) continues towards Audlem, Market Drayton and Wolverhampton (Autherley Junction).
