Letter 'H' on the end of Dorfold Street
There are several rows of old terraced houses alongside Chester Street in Crewe that have been restored. On the end of this one in Dorfold Street there is a wartime letter 'H' painted indicating the presence nearby of a fire hydrant.

Gateway to Dorfold Street
The early morning mist highlights the ironwork on the gate at the entrance to this historic street.
The terrace of ten cottages was built in around 1848, as part of
Engineer Joseph Locke's original layout for the Grand Junction Railway
