Gloomy view from land at Limekiln Farm
We were soon enveloped by the approaching shower of hail and sleet, followed by a bright spell which can be seen illuminating the Cheshire Plain in the distance.

Quirky three plank bridges

Limestone shaft
This mound is the site of a shaft into the Astbury limestone mines. The workings closed in the early twentieth century. On the mound there are also remains of the base of a tower that carried an aerial ropeway from the Astbury ganister quarry to the railway.
