Christmas apples
Set in front of a south-facing wall, this tree retained some of its autumn crop even at the end of December.

Doddington Drive
Doddington Drive was originally a short, dead-end road like others on the Offley estate (hence the turning area in the photo), but when the adjacent Parkhouse estate was built, it was extended through to link the two.

Unusual sign by Doddington Drive
The sign forbids horse riding, cycling and golf practice in the open space off Doddington Drive. Cycling, I can understand, but horses must be pretty rare here, and the specific reference to golf is unusual. See Image for context.

Footpath off Doddington Dive
The path, in a strip of grass, runs for several hundred metres along the back of the houses the length of Gawsworth Drive. It also gives access to a larger open space on the edge of the estate Image

Community Speed Check Area
It is not clear what this sign means. Do vigilantes patrol the area with speed guns? Certainly the motorist in this picture was not afraid of them, s/he was clearly breaking the 40mph limit.

Speed limit approaching Sandbach
The 30mph limit has started at this point on Congleton Road as long as I can remember (1970s) although these signs look newer. At that time it marked the start of the built-up area, but is now illogically placed as housing has spread further out: it would be better to start the urban speed limit at the turning off the bypass.
