Footpath from Bradwall Road to Offley Road
This unusually broad public footpath runs alongside a school
Image, hence the apparent need for a security fence.

New steel framed house on Congleton Road
I did wonder whether this was an office building, as steel frame construction is unusual for a domestic building, but local information was that this is indeed to be a large house, confirmed by the planning permission for a detached house with separate annex, garage and 'pool house'. Bramley Wood estate - spine road
The houses on the left of the spine road into the estate were already completed, and at least some of them occupied, by March 2017.

Line of trees on Claymore Road
These obviously predate the present housing. Old maps show they formed part of the boundary between field parcels 100 and 101. The left hand pavement follows the route of the original right of way.

Autumnal trees alongside Congleton Road
The leaves in autumn colours are on the far side of the main road; nearer the camera is a cherry tree which has been there as long as I've known the road (over 40 years) but appears to have died and been cut back to leave a trunk for biodiversity.

A new path, at last
For at least forty years that I know of, there has been a gap in the hedge separating the main Congleton Road (formerly the A534) and the service road bearing the same name (foreground). A desire line was established long ago by pedestrians (including children heading for the primary school on Offley Road) between the end of the "black path"
Image and the gap in the hedge.
At some time (1980s?) this unofficial shortcut was recognised by the authorities by placing a safety barrier in front of it on the main road side. But it was only in May 2017 that the muddy desire line was properly paved. Not by the highway authority but by contractors working for British Gas as a community benefit project after completing mainlaying in the verge. They could have made it even better by providing a drop kerb, but one must not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Sandbach transport parade (7) - old trucks
This particular truck was one of several built by Foden - one of two truck builders in Sandbach in former years, the other being ERF. Both firms closed around the 1980s.
