New style postbox on Gawsworth Drive
There has been a postbox here as long as I can remember (40 years) but at some point (before 2009 when it appeared on Streetview) it has been replaced by this more modern design. Image gives a wider context.

Wind in the poplars
The poplar trees in this photo show what a windy day it was. The path is the one known locally as the “Black path” leading to Congleton Road.

Green space, Gawsworth Drive
Either the planners of this 1970s housing estate were much more generous than they would be nowadays in leaving a green space at the heart of the estate, or else some community building was planned here but never got built.

Young trees on Gawsworth Drive
The housing estate is now over 50 years old, and some of the trees planted on green spaces at the time may be towards the end of their natural lives. In anticipation of this the local council has planted an inner ring of young trees that will eventually replace the older ones.

Footpath off Doddington Dive
The path, in a strip of grass, runs for several hundred metres along the back of the houses the length of Gawsworth Drive. It also gives access to a larger open space on the edge of the estate Image

Unusual sign by Doddington Drive
The sign forbids horse riding, cycling and golf practice in the open space off Doddington Drive. Cycling, I can understand, but horses must be pretty rare here, and the specific reference to golf is unusual. See Image for context.

Doddington Drive
Doddington Drive was originally a short, dead-end road like others on the Offley estate (hence the turning area in the photo), but when the adjacent Parkhouse estate was built, it was extended through to link the two.

Coronation bunting, Dorfold Close, Sandbach
The Coronation of Charles III was the previous day. If you look closely at the banners you will see they were not acquired specially for this occasion but are re-used from the Diamond Jubilee in 2012. I hope a King who supports recycling would not be offended.
