Long Street looking east from junction with Woolpack Way
The mini-roundabout marks the junction of Long Street and Woolpack Way. This part of Long Street is quieter than the western section, as there are not many shops here. There are however several pubs, plus the Conservative Club on the corner.

In the far distance, on the right, is one of Atherstone's best known pubs, the black & white timber framed Old Swan.

Former HSBC Bank, Atherstone
Atherstone is typical of towns that would once have had a number of banks but is now gradually losing them as on-line banking becomes more popular. This former HSBC bank, a grade II listed building dating from 1837, is now a branch of Specsavers.

Phillips & Marriott's Ales & Stouts
This etched glass window at the front of the Bubble Inn (formerly White Horse) on Long Street is a rare reminder of Phillips and Marriott's brewery of Coventry. The brewery was taken over and closed down in 1924 - so this pub has advertised a product which it couldn't sell for nearly a century! The window is reflecting the street and the photographer.

What a mess!
In the public car park on the corner of Long Street and Woolpack Way is this "Recycling Centre". It illustrates only too dramatically the problem that while the public are continually exhorted to recycle, the facilities themselves are all too frequently inadequate. It is surprising that North Warwickshire District Council or their contractor have not emptied these containers, particularly as this is the time of year when they are likely to be used the most!
