War memorial, Napton on the Hill
The First World War memorial is in the lower part of the churchyard, south of the church of St Lawrence. A polished grey granite obelisk rests on a plinth made of two blocks of pink polished granite, resting on a base of concrete or stone. It was made by A.W.Sturley. Among the names commemorated are Sgt Izod; A.F.Badger; Bdr A.H.Badger. The general inscription is at Image Some communities preferred the obelisk form of memorial because it was non-Christian and, for Christians, it was non-denominational.
